As a child, Jeudi began performing in her hometown of San Diego. Her Latin family placed a high value on a well-rounded, cultured education and she was encouraged to explore a variety of artistic mediums. Her pursuit of artistic growth, lead her to advanced studies both stateside and in France. While in Paris, she studied theatre, art & humanities at Paris IV (La Sorbonne), yet credits her informal music education to the jazz boites and riverside guinguettes taverns, where she was exposed to the great American songbook and the traditional French music of the bals musettes. When her studies brought her to NYU-Tisch School of the Arts, an introduction to American cabaret followed, as she lived in the West Village and began frequenting the piano bars, open mics and performing in Greg Payne's showcases at "The Five Oaks".
As a trained interdisciplinary artist, over the years, Jeudi's eclectic artistry has been lent to a broad range of acclaimed creative endeavors including documentary films, photography and playwriting. When asked, Jeudi simply states that the unifying factor is: storytelling, a skill which she honed, under the tutelage of her mentor, the late, Alexander "Sandy" Mackendrick. And while she believes that the story itself dictates the medium, cabaret has emerged as Ms. Cornejo Brealey's preferred method of conveyance, combining her love of language, music & theatre in an intimate setting. Her dedication to the craft has brought her to the stage of some of the West Coast's finest venues and earned the praise of her peers. Drawing inspiration from her cultural heritage, extensive travel and cherished family life, her work focuses on themes of identity, love and spirit. Ms. Cornejo Brealey earned her MFA at California Institute of the Arts. She lives in SoCal with her husband, producer/director, Paul Hemstreet and their twin sons.
