As a vintage loving chanteuse with a penchant for research, I delight in mining for forgotten musical gems. Most of these tunes are lost treasures from the 1920s to the 1950s. While half are Christmas songs, they’re all about winter.

This time of year, while openly expressing joys and good wishes, we may also privately reflect on disappointments and regrets. The greatest songwriters capture the range of human emotions and present them to us in a gorgeous melody, or a tender lyric. These songs match the moods of the season, from merriment to melancholy.
